Blake was shot seven times in the back by the police and left partially paralyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rittenhouse, who is a MAGA supporter, used an AR-style rifle to fatally shoot two unarmed men during the protests. He later claimed he wanted to protect the businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rittenhouse shot and killed 26-year-old Anthony Huber and 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum. He also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/01\/us\/kyle-rittenhouse-shooting-victims-trial\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shot<\/a>&nbsp;an injured 27-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz, who was armed. The men chased Rittenhouse believing he was an active shooter. Rittenhouse claimed self-defense and was acquitted on all counts in November 2021. Huber\u2019s father, John Huber, filed a civil lawsuit over his son\u2019s death following the acquittal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"338\" width=\"600\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/atlantablackstar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Kyle-Rittenhouse-600x338.jpg?resize=600%2C338&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Kyle Rittenhouse\" class=\"wp-image-628444\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">(Photo: @MikeSington \/ Twitter)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Huber\u2019s attorney Anand Swaminathan told the Washington Post that the ruling brings them one step closer to getting justice for the family. \u201cYesterday\u2019s ruling puts Anthony\u2019s family one step closer to justice for their son\u2019s needless death,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2023\/02\/02\/kyle-rittenhouse-lawsuit-kenosha-john-huber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;Swaminathan. \u201cThe lawsuit will proceed to discovery, allowing full transparency into the events of that fateful and tragic evening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawsuit also names the city of Kenosha and the county of Kenosha, Kenosha County Sheriff David G. Beth, acting Kenosha Police Chief Eric Larsen and former Kenosha Police Department Chief Daniel G. Miskinis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People reacted to Rittenhouse\u2019s donation requests on social media. \u201cSorry but I already gave to the people who\u2019s suing you. Maybe next time,\u201d wrote one Twitter user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust like O.J., he might have escaped legal responsibility, but his wife\u2019s family was able to sue in a civil court,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GilbertJojoMama\/status\/1621125475581165569?s=20&amp;t=rMi46Rn75trbGdzmqXaJQw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;another Twitter user. \u201cBurden of proof is less too. Rittenhouse might not have any assets but he will be paying for the rest of his miserable life. Good!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA judge ruled a wrongful death lawsuit may proceed against Kyle Rittenhouse,\u201d wrote another user. \u201cKyle complained to Tucker Carlson how unfair he\u2019s treated by the media. It\u2019s not the media\u2019s job to make him look good. He wants better coverage? He can start by being a better person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others defended the killer. \u201cWOW \u2013 A Judge is allowing a wrongful death lawsuit to proceed against Kyle Rittenhouse. Who else thinks Kyle Rittenhouse did nothing wrong??\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rittenhouse\u2019s attorney Shane P. Martin tried to have the lawsuit dismissed claiming that Huber had no \u201cplausible claims\u201d against Rittenhouse and doubled down on RIttenhouse\u2019s self-defense claims. Martin also claimed that Huber\u2019s attorneys failed to serve Rittenhouse with a copy of the complaint properly. He said that Huber\u2019s attorneys did not properly serve Rittenhouse because he does not live at the residence where the documents were served to his sister in Florida, where his mother also lives. He also claimed that Huber failed to show Rittenhouse conspired with law enforcement to hurt protesters based on race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe disagree that Mr. Huber has stated any plausible claims against Kyle,\u201d Martin&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2023\/02\/02\/kyle-rittenhouse-lawsuit-kenosha-john-huber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a>&nbsp;the Washington Post. \u201cAlthough this ruling allows the case to proceed for now, it does not change the facts. There simply was no conspiracy between Kyle and the Kenosha police to single out Anthony Huber, and as one jury has already found, Kyle\u2019s actions that night were not wrongful and were taken in self-defense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The judge ruled that Huber\u2019s attorney\u2019s hired private detectives to locate Rittenhouse who had \u201cspent more than 100 hours searching for Rittenhouse all over the country.\u201d Judge Adelman also ruled that Rittenhouse had been trying to evade receiving the court documents. \u201cRittenhouse, in contrast, is almost certainly evading service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rittenhouse has a history of asking for donations. At a fundraiser held on GiveSendGo, Rittenhouse raised $586,940 last year.
