Tis The Season In Memphis

Memphis, TN—Approaching week 6 in the NFL and midseason in the NCAA’s the city of Memphis hoop fans are starting their engines in preparation for a competitive and exciting season for both the University of Memphis (U of M) and local HBCU LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC).

Friday night LOC held their version of college midnight madness kicking off the 2022-23 upcoming season. Featuring returning players from last years playoff team as well as introducing first-year players filling out the roster. LOC used the occasion to include student athletes from other sports programs to fans and student body at LOC.

U of M relocated this years usual midnight madness activities from FEDx Forum. According to Coach Penny, “We are looking forward to celebrating the start of basketball season with our fans on October 15. This unique event will be something new for fans to experience, and we know our teams will feel the love of Tiger Nation during the Block Party.”

U of M block party featured was also a free event that highlighted the mens and womens basketball operation. “We are all excited to bring this event to campus,” Tiger head women’s basketball coach Katrina Merriweather said. “Connecting with our student body and University community is a huge part of our mission, and the Block Party is a great way for of us to interact with fans of all ages.”
