MEMPHIS, TENN—The LOC women’s basketball team seen yet another game come down to the final seconds, this time it was the Lady Magicians who came out on top.
Head coach Antony Partee knew that it would be a tough task at hand defeating the defending SIAC conference champs. “We knew it wouldn’t be easy but we were up for the challenge, it was great to see us finish down the stretch”.
The Lady Magicians defeated Benedict College 48-46 in a game that would go back and fourth all night. The game was tied six different times throughout the night and had twelve lead changes. The team would take their final lead of the game on a Kamryn Knight layup with 1:50 seconds remaining. Knight finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds on the evening. Senior guard Madison Riley led the Lady Magicians with 12 points in the ball game.
Clutch free-throws and defense down the stretch would ultimately seal the deal for the Lady Magicians, who got a steal as time expired. This latest victory gives the Lady Magicians their first win of the season, improving their record to 1-4.
Next up, the Lady Magicians will host Fisk College Wednesday evening at Bruce Johnson Hall. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30pm
