Memphis, TN—A tough, athletic Kentucky State University (KSU) team found themselves in a hostile situation at Jones/Hall Gym on the LeMoyne-Owens (LOC) Monday night. Magicians are on a SIAC hot streak and by the way they performed tonight they turned the heat to high defeating the Thorobreds 82-76.

From the opening tip the Magicians applied defensive and offensive pressure to take a 10 point lead in to the half. KSU responded to LOC pressure of their own with a grinding performance only to fall short.

KSU’s senior guard Jay Murrell led all scorers with 22 pts. 4 -7 from three, helped lead second half comeback charge as KSU shot 53% from the field compared to LOC 45%. In the end KSU ran out of gas as LOC bench play proved to be a deciding difference outscoring KSU 32-16.
