Tigers Gain First Conference Win Against USF

MEMPHIS, Tenn., September 24, 2023 –. The University of South Florida volleyball team (8-6, 2-1 AAC) fell to the Memphis Tigers (5-10, 1-2 AAC), 3-1, on Sunday afternoon in the Larry O. Finch Center. Memphis took the match with scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21.

Maria Clara Andrae (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led the Bulls with 15 kills, while Buse Hazan (Istanbul, Turkey) followed with 10. Caroline Dykes(Flower Mound, Texas) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 26 assists and 17 digs. Her 17 digs led South Florida.

Memphis jumped out to a dominant 16-6 lead in the first set. South Florida answered with an 8-0 run to bring it within two. The Tigers closed out the opening set with six straight points.

South Florida battled from a four-point deficit to take the one-point lead, 9-8. Both teams tied four more times before the Bulls took set two, 25-23.
Memphis cruised through set three, 25-19, to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Bulls battled within one point of the Tigers, 18-19, but a late 5-2 run sealed the win for Memphis.
