Phoenix, Arizona—The Texas Rangers continued their dominance on the road this October — and made history while doing so. Monday night’s 3-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 3 of the World Series gives Texas a 2-1 series lead and also became the first team in MLB history to win nine road games, in. a row, in a single postseason.
The win may come at a cost for the Rangers. Max Scherzer left after three innings with back tightness and star slugger Adolis Garcia exited with left side tightness in the eighth.
“No matter where you are, we’re trying to play good baseball every day,” said shortstop Corey Seager, whose two-run homer in the third inning proved to be the Game 3 difference-maker. “I don’t know how to credit it to anything other than that.”
Perhaps Seager doesn’t have “away” with words to describe these victorious visitors, but we can largely credit their latest triumph to that Gray guy in the road gray pants.
Though he was an option to start Game 4 on Tuesday night, Gray came through in relief by retiring 9 out of 10 batters after getting thrust into the lineup.
