MEMPHIS, TENN., Nov. 4, 2023—After 109 points and a cloud of turf the Memphis Tigers prevailed over conference rival USF 59-50 providing homecoming crowd of 30,223 with a win.
Tigers came out the blocks 14-0. USF responded with runs from Atkins (20 yards) and Brown (24 yards). A 7-yard touchdown pass from Brown to Atkins capped a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive and cut the lead in half. The Bulls would cut the margin to seven four times in the first half, before the teams went to halftime with the Tigers leading 35-28.
In the second half, South Florida came back to take the lead over Memphis, 42-38, with 6:53 left in the third quarter. The Tigers responded right back, as running back Blake Watson exploded for a 34-yard score to give the team a lead it wouldn’t surrender, 45-42.

His five total touchdowns matched his career high. Henigan passed for 304 yards and four touchdowns in the first half, as Memphis posted 366 first half yards on its way to 580 for the game. Henigan, who was knocked out of the game in the third quarter, finished with 349 yards.
On Memphis’ next possession, quarterback Tevin Carter stepped in for injured Henigan and made the most of his first pass attempt connected with Taylor on an 85-yard touchdown, the longest play this season for the Tigers. Tigers offensive production posted 580 yards of total offense, including 441 through the air.
The Memphis Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 11 when the team travels east to face Charlotte at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
