A 761-acre ranch in Hill Country owned by the family behind a beloved Texas brand, Mrs. Baird’s Bread Company. has been recently listed for sale.
The Baird Miller Creek Ranch has been owned by the family since 1951. At least three generations of Bairds have cared for the rolling grasslands that are dotted with oak, cypress and madrone trees. The property is located about six miles east of Johnson City in a perfect location for those looking for prime countryside real estate while keeping at hand several small cities and major metropolitan areas.
“One of the biggest things is location—you’re 45 minutes from Austin,” Republic Ranches listing agent Lindsay Holubec said. “The Hill Country region has become so popular within the last few years … so having that proximity to those unique small towns and then Austin is a unique draw to this ranch.
The ranch comes with three modest one-story structures, two of which were described as smaller cabins and the other, as a bigger main house, co-listing agent Ross Studer said. The property also includes access to 3,900 feet of Miller Creek, with ownership on both sides, providing “unparalleled” privacy.

“Very rarely do live water properties of this size come with the privacy,” Ross said.
The ranch boasts classic Texan landscapes, with vibrant bluebonnets and a herd of seven grazing longhorns in its rolling fields. Wide open spaces offer an incredible view of the Pedernales River Valley sloping into a habitat perfect not just for herding animals and a diverse number of native trees but also a bounty of whitetail deer, wild turkeys, dove, quail, and yes, even feral hogs could be “rooting around from time to time,” per the listing.
For over half a century, the family has taken great care to preserve the property for future generations. Their efforts have focused on conserving the land and ensuring that it remains ecologically intact. The ranch is part of the Pedernales Valley conservation easement group, which is committed to safeguarding the area against fragmentation, and Ross explained that this group works to protect the land and maintain its natural state.
“This is a very conservation-minded family that’s been owning it for over half a century,” Ross said.
